Milan Furniture Fair 2008
23 เม.ย. 51
Each year in early April, designers and retail buyers from around the world convene in Milan for one of the design world's biggest trade shows, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile. The designers' mission is to show, and the buyers' mission is to seek, what's new and innovative for each room in the home or office. The fair, first launched 47 years ago, is a peek into the future of design.
Fuori Salone 2008
The “fuorisalone” expression is used to define the vast range of events animating the whole city during the Salone del Mobile exhibition’s week. This term was institutionalized at the beginning of the nineties, due to the punctual action of “Interni”, the first design review to publish a guide in the month of April: the guide to Fuori Salone.
However, the real beginning of this phenomenon of excitement in the furniture field, out of original exhibition areas of the Milano fiera, was in the first eighties: in fact it is especially during this decade of edonism that those parallel initiatives appear as phenomena that go far beyond the simple presentation of collections in alternative areas, they become real parties dominated by originality and provocation.
The enterprises that privately decide to show new collections out of ordinary Salone areas disagree with the original exposition convention and the presence of functional communication instruments become essential to avoid confusion and to prevent interest dispersion. For many of these enterprises this alternative solution become a way to put furniture and collections’ items in a new dimension, out of everyday market locations. Objects appear unusually independent from their industrial production, playing like actors in theatrical performances.
